The Mind is a Noise Machine

When you catch yourself following a thought trail, a thought trail that may or may not be helpful to you, the first thing you should do, as the observer of you mind, ask yourself, “how is this thought contributing to my day?”  Why would you do this you say? Well, in order to control your mind, you need to step outside of the thought process itself.  Many people find that they lose themselves in a thought and the mind takes over running the show.  The mind lures you in to take ownership of a thought by appealing to your ego, making you think you have a vested interest in the thought being worked on. How To Switch Off The Mind

What happens to ‘peace of mind’ when you just can’t seem to ‘switch off’ the mind?

It is well known to most people that a person cannot conquer the mind by fighting against. Rather, it is easier to overcome the minds activities by becoming indifferent to it. In this technique a person doesn’t try to suppress the flow of thoughts or memories that keep flowing in to their mind, instead, let them flow in and appear but do not respond to them. Imagine thoughts as a film in front of your eyes, slowly passing you by scene by scene. Just acknowledge these thoughts as you would whilst mindlessly watching a film in the cinema. Gratitude breathing assists with clearning the mind.
