The Mind is a Noise Machine

When you catch yourself following a thought trail, a thought trail that may or may not be helpful to you, the first thing you should do, as the observer of you mind, ask yourself, “how is this thought contributing to my day?”  Why would you do this you say? Well, in order to control your mind, you need to step outside of the thought process itself.  Many people find that they lose themselves in a thought and the mind takes over running the show.  The mind lures you in to take ownership of a thought by appealing to your ego, making you think you have a vested interest in the thought being worked on. What is the Egoic Mind? The Egoic mind is the state of being identified with the ego. It is the state of mind in which the ego is in control of your thoughts and emotions. The ego, by nature of its method of action, seeks to defend and glorify the separate and separated self, working for separation from the whole, unhelpful autonomy, or dogged independence, and works to obscure the divine or higher self.
